At the time of passage you diet advice to forget about the overly intense exercise, it is better to replace a light exercise, such as race walking. It is necessary to eliminate the salt, sugar and alcohol. Vegetables and fruit can be eaten more than indicated in the diet, until you feel saturated. But the fruit, again, to get involved do not recommend – do not stretch the stomach wall itself of excess food, even if it is the most-most valuable fruits or vegetables. Remember that your stomach – it’s pouch, consisting of muscle, and excess food can increase it in size. A man with a large volume of the stomach needs to eat more frequently than any other. And another important point – the fruits and vegetables listed in the menu, try, if possible, use either one hour before meals or one hour after eating. This is important! Used the fruits or vegetables directly after a meal you only hurt yourself. In this case, the fruits are not digested, and hitting a full stomach will stay there for a long time, having time to turn sour (rot) and lose most of the vitamins and minerals, but not digested. These same rotten fruit will fall further in your intestines, where it is likely to cause fermentation. But these processes is fraught with you unpleasant intestinal disorders.
Diet without sugar, flour and alcohol!
With exact following a diet for a week you should get rid of 10-20 kg.
Another advantage of the fact that you do not want to eat. In this case, there is no depression or depressed mood. And with all this is a super-fast diet! Every time I lose weight by at least 5 kg after a week’s course. A friend, still at school, enjoyed it once in a month and she looks as if from birth sitting on a separate feed. In general, I recommend the most effective diet. At least at the level of “good diet” it takes one of the first places.

LOSE JUST ONE WEEK!

5 bonuses this diet:
Raising the tone of the whole organism (cleansing of vessels, improvement of digestive system, proper metabolism).
Effective result in getting rid of the subcutaneous adipose tissue (fat) along the lines of the abdomen, thighs.
Active vitamin saturation (will be especially useful to those who have brittle nails, problems with acne, dull hair – all this is 90% dependent on the supply of vitamins the body).
Proper nutrition. After sitting for literally a week on this diet, you train yourself to a healthy and beneficial food.

Carrot Diet

Carrot-dietThis diet is extremely hard. The reason – you can not eat, except carrots, almost nothing. Although, in a good happy thought that the “rabbit food” normalizes metabolic processes in the body and cleans. We all know that those properties, which has carrots, and are the first step to losing weight, so it makes sense to wait 4 days, sitting on a carrot diet.
Carrots contain fats (in small quantities), carbohydrates (10%), nitrogenous substances, B vitamins, as well as vitamins A, D, E, K, PP, ascorbic acid, sterols and lecithin. In terms of carotene carrot is second only to pepper. Because of this saturation of beta-carotene, carrot is an excellent immunomodulator. With the help of liver enzymes, carotene is converted in our body into vitamin A – excellent antioxidant. Thanks to this vitamin, the body stops the formation of free radicals, and therefore, carrot protects us from diseases of the cardiovascular system, cancer, atherosclerosis, cataracts. Carrot promotes physical and mental growth, improves vision. Due to the fact that carrots contain a large amount of iodine and fiber, it helps combat the extra pounds.
If you decide to experience the carrot diet, then at lunch, and dinner you will have the carrot. This may insanely annoying for those 4 days, which should be observed in the carrot diet, but the reward for you will lose 3-4 kilos.
Carrot diet itself lasts for 3 days, and on Day 4 – way out of the diet.
Before use, carrots should be thoroughly cleaned and cleaned, with a knife to cut the top “glossy” layer. The most valuable substance in carrots contained directly under the “gloss” layer, therefore, the thinner will peel, the more vitamins you save in carrots. With baby carrots skin is not removed completely, and only carefully washed root vegetable with a brush.
Many nutritionists say that the carrot is better to use, without subjecting it to thermal treatment, as it loses not only the taste, but most of the vitamins.
So, the carrot diet. We repeat that the duration of this diet – 3 days and 4 day – way out.
During the diet we eat 3-4 times a day salad of carrots, which are preparing the following recipe:
1-2 carrots three on a coarse grater, add lemon juice, a little vegetable oil, a little honey (total daily rate of honey should not exceed 1 tablespoon), a choice of 1 fruit (kiwi, apple, grapefruit, pomegranate or orange).
This amount of food eat in a salad for 1 time (except for honey). Number of carrots – without any restrictions. In the morning you can drink half a glass of kefir or milk, or eat a spoonful of sour cream. This is due to the fact that without the fat carrots are very poorly absorbed. If you’re tired of salad, then instead of it in the evening you can drink carrot or fruit juice.
During the day to drink water or green tea (total amount of fluid – at least 2 liters).
Leaving the carrot diet lasts 1 day. On that day, you eat the same thing as during the diet, adding the potatoes to the diet of 1-2 and a little meat.
Then, a couple of days to limit yourself in fatty and sweet foods.
Enjoy your weight loss!

The Grapefruit Diet

A 21-day so-called 'diet' of grapefruits, a little protein and not much else.
Despite many ludicrous claims, grapefruit (like cabbage) does not possess any 'fat-burning' properties.
What you eat
Typical breakfastHalf a grapefruit & black coffee.Typical lunchHalf a grapefruit, 1 egg, some salad, a piece of toast & tea or coffee w/o milkTypical dinner
Half a grapefruit, 2 eggs, half a head of lettuce with tomato, & tea or coffee (no milk).
Advantages
Grapefruit is fat free, low in calories and full of vitamin C. Pink grapefruits also contain some beta-carotene. However, eating a few grapefruits hardly justifies calling it a 'diet'.
Drawbacks
Lacking sufficient iron, calcium, and many vitamins, this 'diet' is unhealthy as well as monotonous. Also, it contains far too few calories. Needless to say, it doesn't help you to change your eating habits which is the No 1 secret of permanent weight loss

Potato Diet

  1. 1
Choose potatoes that are organically grown, small in size, but heavy for their size. Avoid potatoes with skin discolorations such as dark brown or green spots.
  2. 2
Eat only potatoes, morning, noon and night, for two to four days. Eat them baked, mashed, steamed, roasted, and juiced, but never fried.
  3. 3
Season your potatoes with chives, mint, cumin, turmeric, fennel, caraway, paprika, dill, nutmeg, rosemary and fresh garlic. Use potato juice or herbal teas to aid in making mashed potatoes, but never add milk.
  4. 4
Leave the skins on the potatoes. The skins account for over 75% of the potato's mineral value.
  5. 5
Drink plenty of water and herbal teas. Use potato peels to make tea. Or make herbal teas to target specific ailments you may be dealing with. While your body is fasting it is particularily available to other treatments you may induce. Corn silk tea, burdock, nettle, yarrow, and dandelion root tea are all excellent teas to make during a potato fast.
  6. 6
Utilize an internal bath or enema at the end of your fast to help clear your colon of toxins.
  7. 7
Break your fast by adding fruits and vegetables to your diet of potatoes for a full day before introducing other foods.

Tomato Soup Diet

When it comes to weight loss, diet recommendations come from everywhere. Weeding through them takes considerable work. You must search out the truth, debunk the myths and choose a plan that works for you. The tomato soup diet is one alternative. Before you try it, though, you need to know what it is and what sort of results you can expect.

    The Diet

  1. The Tomato Soup Diet is a short-term diet plan based on the Souper Soup Diet, a diet plan introduced by author Lillie Ross. The diet is closely related to the cabbage soup diet and other soup-based diets.

The diet features unlimited quantities of tomato soup for most meals. The basic recipe calls for mixing equal parts canned tomato soup concentrate and water. Two cans of soup mixed with water produces six cups of soup. Homemade versions vary from one dieter to the next. Most of the homemade soups are based on combining ripe tomatoes with water and seasonings.

You are allowed to supplement the diet with other foods, like fruit, vegetables, chicken and beef, but the soup is the main component of most meals. A sample menu for the Souper Soup Diet--http://www.lillieross.com/soup/soupmenu.html--provides information on foods you can use to supplement your tomato soup diet.
  2. The Results

  3. The Tomato Soup Diet brings results. After all, tomato soup is low in calories and has nearly no fat content. Also, soup fills the stomach. The Mayo Clinic says foods that are dense make you feel full faster than less dense foods, even if the dense foods pack fewer calories.

In just one week, many dieters lose 10 to 15 pounds on the Tomato Soup Diet. The weight loss, though, is not tied to any unique properties of the soup. Instead, weight loss is a result of limited calorie consumption. Some dieters report regaining lost weight after stopping the diet. This sometimes results from binge eating following this highly restrictive diet.

While only a short-term option, the Tomato Soup Diet might be a viable option for someone seeking quick weight loss. For example, a boxer might try it as a means of making weight for a fight. You also might use it to help tame eating habits before beginning a long-term healthy diet.
  4. Considerations

  5. Based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recommendations for daily eating, the Tomato Soup Diet lacks sufficient nutrients, such as protein and calcium, which are necessary for a healthy lifestyle. While it might work as a short-term solution, it does not represent a smart choice for prolonged dieting. Restricting nutrients can lead to the loss of muscle mass and bone density. The Tomato Soup Diet also can result in fatigue and has the potential to bring about health problems if dieters stay on the plan for more than a week or two.

The American Dietetic Association calls soup diets a fad. It says no diet based on a single food can reverse weight gain from inactivity or overeating. The association recommends consulting a dietitian for help with weight loss.

Diet secrets

What’s the secret? Is there something in the waters of the River Seine? Do the French have a genetic advantage over the rest of us when it comes to staying slim? Seemingly the French are able to regularly dine on fine wines, cheese, and chocolate without gaining weight or suffering from the health maladies commonly associated with being overweight. In his recent book The French Diet, diet expert Michel Montignac explains the secret of why the French don’t get fat and offers a plausible, enjoyable—and permanent—weight loss solution to those of us battling our own ever-expanding waist-lines. Thanks to Michel for chatting with us.

Much of your diet theory involves the glycemic index. How is the glycemic index key to the French Diet? Calorie intake is not responsible for fat storage. If we put on weight it is not because we eat too much but because we eat wrongly. The nature of the food we eat stimulates metabolic reactions leading to fat storage instead of fat burning. Although this applies to all food categories, the choice of carbohydrates is particularly decisive. This is why the glycemic index is the key of the French Diet since it is the best way to choose the appropriate food.
How can adhering to the French Diet reduce a person’s cholesterol and/or lower their risk for heart disease? Professor Jean Dumesnil from Québec University did an experiment showing that the Montignac method was not only an efficient weight loss method, but was also the best way to prevent cardiovascular disease. He even showed that triglycerides dropped by 35% after six days on the diet. Dumesnil’s study was published in November 2001 in the British Journal of Nutrition.
What link do you see between the French Diet and type 2 diabetes? Obesity and type 2 diabetes are both caused by hyperinsulinism, which is a chronic and excessive secretion of insulin. Consequently, the French Diet not only leads to weight loss but also to a decreased risk of diabetes.
The French Diet does not emphasize reducing caloric intake. Why? During the last 50 years, Western countries have reduced their daily calorie intake by 35%. Paradoxically, obesity rates have increased by 400% during this same period.
These statistics prove that low-calorie diets are a total failure. Low-calorie-diets actually slow down the metabolism. This reduced basal metabolic rate leaves the body vulnerable to rapid and excess weight gain once the person comes off the low-calorie diet.
You spend a lot of time discussing the merits of “good” versus “bad” carbs. How do you differentiate between them? Bad carbs are those whose metabolization stimulates insulin secretion, which in turn leads to fat storage rather than fat burning. Bad carbs are high glycemic index foods, such as potatoes, sugar or white flour.
Conversely, good carbs are those whose metabolization lowers insulin production, which in turn prevents fat storage and activates fat burning. Good carbs are fruit, vegetables, al dente pasta, dry legumes and integral cereals.
Tell us briefly about the American Paradox. Americans are the only population in the world that:
  • Fixates on dieting.
  • Follows the most low-calorie/low-fat diets.
  • Exercises the most (2 to 3 times the rate of French people).
  • Consumes the most sugar substitutes.
Paradoxically, they also have the highest rate of obesity in the world—3 to 4 times higher than French people, who eat more and exercise less. All these details are proof that their dieting habits are totally misguided.
What ancillary benefits have people reported after trying the French Diet? By following the French Diet, people lose weight easily without deprivation; they decrease their risk of cardiovascular problems (e.g. high cholesterol, hypertension, triglycerides, etc.); and they lower their risk of contracting diabetes. In addition, they feel more physically fit.
You break the diet into two phases. What happens in Phase 1? Phase 2? Phase 1 is the rapid weight loss phase. In this phase, people eat normal quantities of food in balanced meals. However, their choice of foods is restricted low glycemic index ones (which have the smallest impact on insulin secretion). Once they have succeeded in losing weight, they can switch to the Phase 2, which is the weight control phase.
Phase 2 also limits food choices. However, the range of permitted foods is much wider. High glycemic index foods are permitable in Phase 2, provided that low glycemic index foods are also eaten during the same meal as compensation.
The book has nearly 100 pages of delicious French recipes. As the author, do you have any personal recommendations? These French recipes are very easy to follow. They are designed to teach people that it’s possible to lose weight while still enjoying good food.
What role does exercise have in the French Diet? The French Diet demonstrates to people that it is illusory to expect to lose weight by exercising more. For example, it would take 18 hours of non-stop jogging for a woman to loose 2 pounds.
However, this does not mean that the French Diet advocates forgetting about exercising. In general, exercise is good for health. It keeps lungs, heart and muscles in good shape. On top of that, it helps to regulate t insulin secretion. Consequently, fast walking is good enough. People do not need to jog for hours (as many of them do).
What differentiates the French Diet from the throng of diet plans currently on the bookshelf? Because there is no deprivation, the French Diet is not really a diet. It is more a lifestyle. It is designed not only to aid weight loss in the short term, but also to help people maintain their weight loss long term by advocating healthy eating habits, which can also prevent illness and disease.
What is the single dumbest thing you see people eat in the modern diet? The dumbest thing people do is eat fast-food, processed food, and drink soda. The fact is that it has been scientifically proven—and broadcasted everywhere—that these are the true causes of major diseases in more than one third of the American population, including obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Let’s play a little word association. I’ll give you a word and you tell us what you think about it as it relates to a healthy diet.
  • Wine: Red wine is healthy because of its high polyphenols.
  • Organic food: It is healthy because there are no pesticides or preservatives. But we must be aware that this is not enough. If a high glycemic index food is organic, it remains dangerous (as far as metabolic diseases are concerned).
  • Pasta: It is healthy, but only if it is made out of durum (hard) wheat and cooked al dente.
  • Cheese: Cheese is okay—in reasonable quantities. However, be careful with fresh dairy products (especially milk) because they contain whey/lactoserum, which triggers a critical insulin secretion.
  • Oils: Olive oil remains the best oil to consume. Avoid refined oils.
  • Dessert: T he best desserts are those made with high cocoa-content chocolate (at least 70%), without sugar, flour or butter.
What are your thoughts on the “obesity epidemic” which seems to be spreading across the Western world? The “obesity epidemic” is caused by the globalization of American food eating habits.
Not only does it impact the Western countries but the whole world. Countries which are especially impacted are those that have developed their own eating models for millennia, such as Japan, China and India.
Best part of being the author of the latest best selling diet book: It may be the latest best selling diet book in the United States only because the Montignac method has been a best seller in more than 40 countries for over 20 years. However, being successful in the U.S. is always rewarding for a French author.

Types of life insurance

Find the Right Type of Policy

Once you've got an estimate of how much insurance you'll need, it's time to think about the type of policy that best fits your needs. Today life insurance comes in many varieties, but there are four basic types term, whole life, universal life, and variable life. As a first-time buyer, one will more than likely fit your needs.
Term Life Insurance
As its name implies, term insurance provides life insurance protection for a specific period of years. Benefits can be used to help pay off mortgages and other outstanding debts in the event of a premature death. Generally the least expensive form of life insurance, term provides pure insurance protection only. It does not accumulate cash value, and generally does not receive dividends.
Term may be an ideal choice when you need life insurance coverage for a well-defined period of time. It can be used to protect needs that last for a predictable period, such as a student loan or mortgage. People in their 20s and 30s often purchase a term policy and later convert it to a permanent plan (see Whole Life, below). The conversion privilege in their term policies guarantees their insurability at a later date-even if they become uninsurable.
New York Life Insurance Company makes a variety of term policies available, including five-, ten-, and 20-year policies.
Whole Life
In contrast to term insurance, whole life, also known as permanent insurance, protects you throughout your lifetime, from the day you purchase the policy until you die, as long as you pay the premiums. Another difference between the two is that permanent insurance builds cash value. Through policy loans, you can access the cash values and use them for a host of purposes such as education funding and supplemental retirement income. However, policy loans against the cash value accrue interest and reduce the death benefit and the cash value by the amount of the outstanding loan plus interest. Guaranteed for life, your policy will be renewed every year, regardless of your health for as long as you live, again, as long as required premiums are paid.
Permanent policies are also eligible to receive dividends, a portion of the company's surplus that is distributed to the owners of participating policies. (Dividends can be taken in cash, used to reduce the premium, left to accumulate at interest, or used to purchase paid-up additional insurance. Dividends are not guaranteed.) Whole life can provide a permanent solution to several financial concerns including:
  • Mortgage protection: Benefits can be used to help pay off mortgages and other outstanding debts in the event of a premature death.
  • Estate preservation: Whole life insurance can provide funds to cover estate expenses and help avoid the need to sell assets and or borrow money to cover these expenses.
  • Retirement funding: If the need for death benefit protection has decreased, cash values can be accessed through policy loans or surrenders to supplement a retirement income. Loans will reduce the death benefit.
  • Charitable giving: A whole life insurance policy can enable you to make a significant donation to your favorite charity upon your death.
  • Business needs: Whole life can be an attractive executive and employee benefit and a means to assure a business's financial future.
New York Life Insurance Company offers many permanent life insurance policies, including Modified Premium Whole Life, and Survivorship Whole Life.
Universal Life
Universal life also provides permanent life insurance protection and access to cash values that grow tax-deferred. Universal Life differs from whole life in its flexibility that enables you to choose the amount of protection that best suits your family or business. With Universal Life, you can increase or decrease your coverage, as your insurance needs change and control the amount and frequency of premium payments. The policy can also be customized with various riders to fit your lifestyle. Universal Life policies are issued by New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corporation.  (NYLIAC)(a Delaware Corporation), a wholly-owned subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Company.
Variable Universal Life*
Variable Universal Life insurance is a type of flexible premium, permanent life insurance policy that allows the policy owners to have premium dollars allocated to a variety of investment options, including a fixed account backed by the assets in the general account of NYLIAC. Variable Universal Life Insurance generally provides a federal income tax-free death benefit, and is accessible through policy loans and/or withdrawals. Note, all guarantees, including death benefit payments are dependent on the claims-paying ability of NYLIAC and do not apply to the investment performance or the safety of the underlying Investment Divisions on the variable universal life policies. Also, loans against the cash value and withdrawals may reduce death benefit and the cash value. If the policy is designated as a Modified Endowment Contract, withdrawals taken prior to age 59 1/2 may be subject to a 10% IRS penalty tax and surrender changes may apply. Additional taxes may apply to policies designated as a modified endowment. The product prospectus contains more information.
There are risks associated with investing in variable universal life insurance policies. Please be aware that assets allocated to the Investment Divisions are subject to market risks and will fluctuate in value. Please be aware there are fees and charges associated with these policies. The French diet plan

French Diet Plan
  • The French diet plan will not include the monotonous counting of calories, or carbohydrate and fat grams.
  • Although they proportion their meals much smaller than dieters in the United States, the French are more attentive to the quality of what they eat versus the quantity
  • Part of the French diet plan, aside from smaller portions, is to chew very slowly while savoring each bite full of food.
If you are looking for a diet which includes a sensible balanced plan, The French diet plan may be the one to be considered. For the French, meals are created with fresh, unprocessed foods most likely purchased the same day of preparation. The French diet plan will not include the monotonous counting of calories, or carbohydrate and fat grams. Although they proportion their meals much smaller than dieters in the United States, the French are more attentive to the quality of what they eat versus the quantity.

Since the French are very specific about the quality of their foods, they tend to shop for items as they need them. They don’t make one huge grocery list every week or two to stock up on products they will not use for days. The French will walk to the market on a daily basis, burn some calories when doing so, and purchase quality products including all natural and fresh foods, olive oil, and other healthy ingredients needed for their very next meal. Highly sweetened drinks and junk food is not included in the French diet plan. However, a glass of wine with every meal is totally acceptable.
Balanced Diet Plan
The French may fill a snack plate with a much smaller portion than the average American would place on a dinner plate. However, the French will take just as long, if not longer, to clear that snack plate. Part of the French diet plan, aside from smaller portions, is to chew very slowly while savoring each bite full of food. Taking the time to relax during their meal, the French slowly enjoy each mouthful of food freshly prepared from natural and healthy ingredients. By doing this, the feeling that there was plenty to eat will come at a quicker pace without overindulgence in more servings than needed. With such a slow pace, the food is metabolized much better than if scarfing it down within a few minutes. The French do not avoid certain foods for fear of weight gain. They incorporate all fresh foods, wine, and plenty of water into their eating plans. Fast food and all you can eat dinner buffets are not part of the plan.

When considering a weight loss program, the choices are endless. Such weight loss plans as the carbohydrate addict diet allows unlimited carbs at only one meal per day. This meal is to last for one hour. With bio availability, extreme carb levels are turned into spiking insulin levels with a toxic effect. The less the bio availability of substances poisonous to the body’s normal functions, the less effect that substance will have. Unlike the carbohydrate addict diet, the French dieting plan allows the carbs at any meal. However, the smaller portions are eaten at a slow relaxing pace and digested efficiently without spiking insulin levels. Eating fruit and even a croissant or pastry is acceptable. The key is unhurriedly eaten smaller portions.

The French do not make an obsession over exercise. However, walking to where they need to go is simply a routine. Their usual active lifestyles along with happy-go-lucky attitudes make for a relaxed mode of living life with happiness. They take time for the enjoyable moments in life, even the meals they eat.

You know when you eat food and drink drinks? Well, every one of those foods and every one of those drinks contain calories. Say it with me... calories. The reason I'm mentioning calories to you as though you are 5 years old is because the answer to the almighty "how to lose weight" question all revolves around calories. Not only does everything you eat and drink contain calories, but everything you do burnscalories. Literally every step you take and every move you make burns calories. In fact, your body actually burns hundreds and even thousands of calories each day on its own just functioning. You could sit still all day and your body would still burn calories.
So now you may be wondering, if everything you eat contains calories, and everything you do burns calories, shouldn't they just cancel each other out? Yes, they should... and they do. If you consume the exact same number of calories that your body burns each day, your weight would stay exactly the same. If your body naturally burns 3000 calories a day, and you happen to eat 3000 calories a day, your weight would not change. In this example, 3000 calories is what's known as acalorie maintenance level. It's the number of calories required for the body to maintain it's current weight.
I should probably have you repeat "calorie maintenance level" with me, because if there's one thing more important than calories when it comes to losing weight... it's your calorie maintenance level
Your calorie maintenance level is pretty useful to know. Think of it like it's your body's weight loss password, and knowing it will get you into your own private weight loss system. Once you're in, you'll be able to control your weight with ease. In fact, for anyone wondering how to lose weight, this is the number at the heart of that answer. The best way I can explain why is by telling you the big secret...
Like I said, every person's body needs a certain number of calories each day in order for them to maintain their current weight. This is your maintenance level. If your diet plan is made up of the SAME number of calories as this maintenance level, your weight will stay the same. However, if your diet is made up of MORE calories than your maintenance level, you will GAIN weight. But... get this... if your diet is made up of LESS calories than your maintenance level... YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT!

Calorie Deficit (Giving your body less calories than it needs)

You just learned the one simple fact that The Lose Weight Diet is based on. Pretty cool huh? I told you, weight loss is all about calories. More specifically, it's about creating a calorie deficit. You need to end up burning more calories than you consume. If your daily calorie maintenance level is 3000 calories, you will lose weight if you started eating 2500 calories a day. You would gain weight if you ate 3500 calories a day. I realize I was only supposed to explain how to lose weight, but you've also just learned how to gain weight.
Did you ever wonder how you gained weight? Now you know. You ate more than your maintenance level. To lose weight, you just need to reverse that. Simple, isn't it? You may have noticed that in the example above I subtracted 500 calories from the maintenance level. Subtracting 500 calories from your maintenance level is the magic weight loss number here. The reason for that is because there are about 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. So, if you ate 500 less calories each day for 7 days, it would equal the 3500 less calories required to lose 1 pound. (500 x 7 = 3500)
Coincidentally, there are 7 days in a week. So, by eating 500 calories below your daily maintenance level, you would lose about 1 pound per week. Now would be a good time to mention that the healthy, safe, good, smart, and all around right amount of weight to lose for most people is 1 or 2 pounds a week. That is the widely agreed upon correct weight loss speed. I am bringing this up now because some people may be thinking, "If my maintenance level was 3000 calories, why shouldn't I just go straight to eating 1000 calories a day instead of only 2500?" Here's why...
Reducing your calorie intake by so much so fast is wrong, unsafe, unhealthy, bad, unsafe, bad, wrong, unhealthy, stupid, unsafe, wrong, unhealthy, stupid, bad and wrong. Got that? You'd end up losing muscle instead of fat. Your body would go into a state where it actually KEEPS fat. Blah blah blah, blah blah. It would just be the complete opposite of the right thing to do. Remove this idea from your mind.
Here's another thing you may have been thinking. "I know how to lose weight... burn more calories than I consume. I got that. I know I can do this by eating about 500 calories less than my maintenance level. But, instead of eating below my maintenance level, couldn't I just workout more and therefore burn more calories?" The answer is yes.
If your maintenance level is 3000 calories a day, and you are eating the full 3000 calories a day, you could lose weight by working out and burning those 500 calories each day. You'd still end up in the same calorie deficit this way just as you would by eating less.
Weight loss is all about being in that calorie deficit. While you can technically accomplish this either way (through diet or workout), for best results and for best all around health, the trick is to do it using a combination of both. A proper diet plan combined with a proper workout is the ideal weight loss scenario. But, I'll talk more about that later. First I need to cover one final Phase 1 question some of you may have.
"While explaining how to lose weight, you have only really mentioned calories. What about protein, carbs and fat? Don't they matter?" The answer is yes.

Protein, Carbs, and Fat

While your total calorie intake is the most important aspect of weight loss, where those calories come from is a close second. As far as calorie choices go, there's really only three; protein, carbs and fat. Despite what the many fad diets and commercial diet plans have scared you into thinking, your weight loss diet NEEDS to contain a good amount of all three. (Exactly how much of each is coming up next.)
So, while you would very likely lose weight just by being below your maintenance level, how much and what types of protein, carbs and fat you eat will indeed play many important roles. Don't worry, that will all be explained next.

The end of Phase 1 of The Lose Weight Diet

You have reached the end of Phase 1. Right now you should fully understand how to lose weight. Feels good, doesn't it? I told you this was simple. What you need to do next is use what you just learned to create your own weight loss diet plan. That's what Phase 2 is. In Phase 2 you will learn exactly how to figure out what your calorie maintenance level is and exactly how many calories you should eat each day. You will also learn how much protein, carbs and fat you should be eating along with examples of which foods to get these nutrients from. You ready? Let's go...

13 keys for healthy deit

Developing healthy eating habits isn't as confusing or as restrictive as many people imagine. The first principle of a healthy diet is simply to eat a wide variety of foods. This is important because different foods make different nutritional contributions.
Secondly, fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes—foods high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, low in fat, and free of cholesterol—should make up the bulk of the calories you consume. The rest should come from low-fat dairy products, lean meat and poultry, and fish.
You should also try to maintain a balance between calorie intake and calorie expenditure—that is, don't eat more food than your body can utilize. Otherwise, you will gain weight. The more active you are, therefore, the more you can eat and still maintain this balance.
Following these three basic steps doesn't mean that you have to give up your favorite foods. As long as your overall diet is balanced and rich in nutrients and fiber, there is nothing wrong with an occasional cheeseburger. Just be sure to limit how frequently you eat such foods, and try to eat small portions of them.
You can also view healthy eating as an opportunity to expand your range of choices by trying foods—especially vegetables, whole grains, or fruits—that you don't normally eat. A healthy diet doesn't have to mean eating foods that are bland or unappealing.
The following basic guidelines are what you need to know to construct a healthy diet.
1 Eat plenty of high-fiber foods—that is, fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. These are the "good" carbohydrates—nutritious, filling, and relatively low in calories. They should supply the 20 to 30 grams of dietary fiber you need each day, which slows the absorption of carbohydrates, so there’s less effect on insulin and blood sugar, and provides other health benefits as well. Such foods also provide important vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals essential to good health).
2 Make sure to include green, orange, and yellow fruits and vegetables—such as broccoli, carrots, cantaloupe, and citrus fruits. The antioxidants and other nutrients in these foods may help protect against developing certain types of cancer and other diseases. Eat five or more servings a day.
3 Limit your intake of sugary foods, refined-grain products such as white bread, and salty snack foods. Sugar, our No.1 additive, is added to a vast array of foods. Just one daily 12-ounce can of soda (160 calories) can add up to 16 pounds over the course of a year. Many sugary foods are also high in fat, so they’re calorie-dense.
4 Cut down on animal fat. It’s rich in saturated fat, which boosts blood cholesterol levels and has other adverse health effects. Choose lean meats, skinless poultry, and nonfat or low-fat or nonfat dairy products.
5 Cut way down on trans fats, supplied by hydrogenated vegetable oils used in most processed foods in the supermarket and in many fast foods.
6 Eat more fish and nuts, which contain healthy unsaturated fats. Substitute olive or canola oil for butter or stick margarine.
7 Keep portions moderate, especially of high-calorie foods. In recent years serving sizes have ballooned, particularly in restaurants. Choose a starter instead of an entrée, split a dish with a friend, and don’t order supersized anything.
8 Keep your cholesterol intake below 300 milligrams per day. Cholesterol is found only in animal products, such as meats, poultry, dairy products, and egg yolks.
9 Eat a variety of foods. Don't try to fill your nutrient requirements by eating the same foods day in, day out. It is possible that not every essential nutrient has been identified, and so eating a wide assortment of foods helps to ensure that you will get all the necessary nutrients. In addition, this will limit your exposure to any pesticides or toxic substances that may be present in one particular food.
10 Maintain an adequate calcium intake. Calcium is essential for strong bones and teeth. Get your calcium from low-fat sources, such as skim milk and low-fat yogurt. If you can't get the optimal amount from foods, take supplements.
11 Try to get your vitamins and minerals from foods, not from supplements. Supplements cannot substitute for a healthy diet, which supplies nutrients and other compounds besides vitamins and minerals. Foods also provide the "synergy" that many nutrients require to be efficiently used in the body.
12 Maintain a desirable weight. Balance energy (calorie) intake with energy output. Exercise and other physical activity are essential.
13 If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. That is one drink a day for women, two a day for men. A drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof spirits. Excess alcohol consumption leads to a variety of health problems. And alcoholic beverages can add many calories to your diet without supplying nutrients.
